Written initially to complement Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 “Titan,” this tone poem is meant to capture the spirit of valor – of courage,

bravery, and heroism. Humanity is frequently waging battles, from unfortunate physical battles in real life, to psychological wars, to mental

struggles. Courage, bravery, and heroism are traits we continuously need to draw on, and the struggle to draw on them requires deep energy. This tone poem is meant to inspire this courageous energy and the emotions associated with heroism.
