Concept: 

​

               This concerto is based on the mythical figure Merlin from the Legend of King Arthur.  Each movement conveys ​different adventures Merlin might have been involved with:  the first movement represents a quest, while the last movement represents a battle or chase.  The middle movement is contemplative; in this one, Merlin looks into his magical pool and perceives time and the events that occur peoples' lives not as distinct in the past, present, or future, but instead as one combined, continuous entity.
